Monday Jan. 3, 2011- I've just updated the class dates on my website and hope to be able to post more. I still can't get my mind around the blogging thing, but I'll try to think of it like a journal. I don't read anyone elses blogs, so I don't understand why anyone would want to read mine or anyone elses, but I'll try to put some interesting things here that you might like to read. Sorry to say that my life isn't that juicy so you might be bored.
Today Pam East called me to talk about having a class here in the future. She is a wonderful metal clay enamelist. I do hope that she will be able to come here through JAG. I was pleasantly shocked to win 4th place in the Lark Book Jewelry Design challenge. They made a book about the first one. They sent 30 well-known studio jewelers a bunch of specific materials and told them to use as many of the materials that they wanted in a piece of jewelry that they design and make. They could also add one material of their choice as a wildcard. So then Lark got together with Rio Grande and put the challenge out to anyone who wanted to enter. I being of unsound mind and judgement -decided to try it. I used some of the materials and metal clay as my wildcard. It was fun and I challenged my self because I have not had a lot of experience with riveting, and I did not solder anything on this piece. It's all tube rivited. I was very proud of myself.Check it out. The first 3 winners have made wonderful pieces.http://www.larkcrafts.com/jewelry-beading/jewelry-design-challenge-winners/
